Majida El-Roumi, nicknamed as Lady Majida, is a famous Lebanese singer and a soprano, born on December 13, 1956 in Kfarshima, Lebanon. Her father is the famous music composer Halim El-Roumi, who at first was against Majida in pursuing a singing career.
In 1972, Majida El-Roumi participated in Studio El-Fan TV talent show and won the gold medal, that gave her exposure to a wide audience and has started her musical career.
Majida is best known for performing traditional Lebanese songs in a powerful voice, combining western classical music with the Arabic classical music. She has worked with famous poets and music composers to produce religious songs, patriotic songs, love songs and kids songs.
Majida produced several patriotic songs including Nabe3 El-Mahabbeh, Ya Beirut Ya Set al-Dounia, Oum Thadda, Saqata al-Qina3.
Kalimat was Majida's first Pan Arab hit music album, followed by several hit songs including Kalimat, Ya Saken Afkari, Kon Sadiqi, Ma3a Jarida, Ibhath 3anni, Koullon Youghanni 3ala Laylah, 3aynaka, Tawq Al-Yasamine, E3tazalt El-Gharam, Nashid Lel Hob, Ma Rah Ez3al 3a Shi'
Majida's only experience in acting was starring in Youssef Chahine movie 3awdat al-Ibn al-Dal.
Majida has participated in many festivals and concerts in Lebanon, the Arab World and worldwide, and has received many music awards.
Through her career, Majida El-Roumi recieved many tributes and awards for her achievements in Lebanon and other Arab countries. She was appointed as a FAO and UN Goodwill Ambassador.
